Tennis: Disguise The Intention

Sportplan has been very helpful in guiding me through my first year...
Bill, Newly qualified coach

DESCRIPTION

  • Player serves to the T from the ad side.
  • Coach hits a return to the backhand.
  • Player runs around and hits forehand drop shot inside in.

COACHING POINTS

  • The players works on specific pattern requiring an accurate serve and disguised forehand drop shot.
  • Most of the time, players will run around the backhand to hit a forehand inside out, targeting the opponents backhand.
  • By choosing to hit a forehand drop shot inside in, the player can surprise the opponent and potentially win many points right after the serve.
  • It is important for the player to maintain the same backswing for both the offensive shot and the drop shot so the opponent doesn't get any early cues about the intention of the shot.
