All players have a ball each.
The catchers have to try and touch one of the players without bibs. If they succeed in doing so then that person has to stand still and put their ball on their head.
People that are standing still (stuck in the mud) can only be freed by someone going through their legs.
Note: All players should be dribbling whenever they are moving (improve handing and ball confidence).
White Player 1 is 'On'
Blue Players 1 to 8 try to dribble their basketballs to the opposite line.
Any players that the white player touches are 'caught' and will be 'On' with white player 1.
The players that make it to the other side continue until there is one winner.
Split into 2 lines and have a line on either side of the court.
One player in the middle with a basketball.
The player in the middle will pass to the 1st player in one of the lines. After the pass is made that player will go and defender the receiver of the pass.
They will play 1v1. Only 1 shot is allowed.
Once a shot has been taken the ball will be passed to the opposite line where the offensive player will become the defender.
A line of players will start in the corner. There will be a cone in front of the players about 25 ft away.
There will also be a cone along the baseline that the defensive player will run around.
The player at the front of the line will have a basketball. The coach will nominate 1 person to start on defence.
When the coach yells GO both players will take off to get around their cones.
Once they are around the cones they are playing 1 v 1.
A line at the free-throw line. The 1st 2 players will have a basketball. The player in front always gets to shoot 1st. As soon as the player in front shoots the player behind can shoot. If the shot is missed, you get your rebound and can shoot as close as you like. The 1st shot must be taken from the free-throw line. A player gets knocked out if the player behind scores before they do.
Teams of 4-6 players with one ball. Players line up with their backs to the court and the gaps between the players are length of their hands. The first player in line has a ball. On the signal from the coach, the player with the ball hands it to the second player over the head and runs to the end of the line. The second player hands the ball to the third player under the legs and runs to the end of the line and continues over and under. The winner is the team who comes first to finish line. Rules: --Players cannot move their feet when they hand off the ball. --If the ball drops to the floor, they must start again from starting point.
Players dribble their ball around the outside of the islands. On the whistle the players have to go and stand on one of the islands. Rules:No more than 2 players on any one island, last 2 to find an island are out.
Select three players who are catchers. The rest of the group go into the grid and have to dribble around. On the command the catchers come in and try and get the balls off the players. If someone is caught they swap with the catcher.
Split all your players into two teams and have them line up on opposite sides of the court. 2 basketballs are placed at mid-court. Each player is given a number (eg. 1-5). The coach will set out a basket that each team will shoot at. The coach will call out a number. When the number is called out, the corresponding number will run out to get the ball, dribble to the basket and keep shooting till the shot is made. Once the shot is made the players will run after the ball and dribble it back to the center circle. The first player to score and get the ball back to the center circle wins.
Everyone starts with a ball and finds a partner. Each pair will need a ball each and they have to dribble around within a suitable area whilst holding the hand of their partner. The coach nominates people to be the catchers. These people can dribble around freely (without having to link arms) and try and tag someone. If they do then the person they tag becomes a catcher and they take their place.
Pass the ball around the outside of the cones. While another team is running a rely around the outside square. How many passes can the passing team do in the time the realy team runs. Then vice-versa.
Mark out a small area, typically 1/3 of the court (depends on group size). Select someone to be the tagger. All the playes in the group have balls and on the coach's call start to dribble around the area. On the coach's second call the tagger starts to dribble with their ball after the other members of the group, trying to tag them. If they successfully tag someone then they now become the tagger.
Setup the cones as shown. All players have a ball each. Split the group into two teams one of which is taggers and the others are trying to escape. On the whistle both teams start dribbling (anti-clockwise)around the cones. The taggers have to try and catch the other team. If they do they go back to the beginning.
