1) rolls ball out towards 4), 4) runs in picks up the ball and flicks to stumps with 3) backing up. 4) takes up 3)s position, 3) then rolls out towards 2) who runs in and flicks ball towards stump with 1) backing up and runs to take up 3)s position. Soon as ball is feed out by 1) or 3) they run up the side and join the back of the queue.

Rugby Cricket Fielding Passing...

Coach stands in the middle of a semi circle of 6-10 players, holding a ball.One player throws a ball at the coach, who bats it away using the ball they are holding. This will send the ball off at a strange angle and make it difficult to catch. The person nearest to the ball should catch it.If they drop the ball then they move to the right hand side of the semi circle. The person at the far left of the semi circle at the end wins.

6-12 people needed. Player (6) starts by rolling the ball out to (5) who runs in and throws ball to the (WK). Coach now throws (5) a flat catch as he runs towards the stumps where (6) was feeding from. (6) now joins back of queue.

Wicketkeeper starts with the ball and rolls out the the fielder in the square leg position.Square leg fielder picks up the ball and aims a throw at the ramp.Fielder at point gets in line with the throw and catches/collects the ball from the throw and then releases a throw at the non-strikers end single stump.Mid-on fielder backs up this throw and gives an underarm throw to the extra cover fielder who has moved im behind the non-strikers end stump.Extra cover completes the drill by throwing the ball back into the wicketkeeper.

Cones are set out as a gate, in the point fielding position and extra cover fielding position.Players split into 2 groups in each of the gates.Coach will position themselves at the strikers end stump with a bat. Coach will serve himself and strike a ball towards the point or extra cover gate. Receiving player will catch or gather the ball, return it to the coach and join the back of the queue.This drill can be played as a competition, coach vs players. For every clean catch or gather, the players receive a point and for every misfield, the coach will receive a point.

Two players per team, stood about 4-5 metres apart between two cones (the goal). Both teams must try to protect their goals by stopping the opposition from throwing the ball through their goal. Using only underarm throws players must try and score in their opponent's goal. A goal is awarded every time their opponent either drops the ball or fails to prevent it passing between their cones.

The batsman calls 'yes' to start the drill and tries to run 2 lengths whilst the fielder (player 1) runs out to meet the stationary ball, picks it up and throw it back to the wicket keeper (thus trying to run out the batter). The coach decides which team has won and both players return to the back of their respective lines. Drill continues in this way.

Drill can work with a mininum of 3 players and 1 feeder.Can add more pairs sharing catches if you have more numbers.Coach/feeder will use the ramp to send 4 consecutive catches to a player opposite.Inbetween that, players will pair up and swap catches whilst the coach is sending the 4 catches.Players rotate once the 4 catches have been taken.

Set up as shown: two sets of stumps with a wicket keeper with a ball behind each. Two lines of players. The WK facing the two lines starts by throwing the ball out for player 1 to run out and catch Player 1 catches the ball and throws the ball over the stumps for the WK to catch. The second WK (player 4) now rolls the ball out for the fielder to run onto, gather and then throw at the stumps. Player 4 collects the ball and leaves it behind the stumps for the fielder. Players then rotate, with players 4 joining the back of the opposite line and player 1 taking up the role of second WK. Drill should be continuous.

Layout for the game<br />1. Play as teams (5-8 a-side) or individuals (6-10 players).<br />2. With chalk or disks, mark out the fielding positions available.<br />3. Make sure the marks are 4 paces away from the batsman.<br />4. Short leg must be slightly deeper: 5 paces.<br />5. Slip or gully in normal position for cricket.<br />6. Coach must feed when possible (to save arguments).<br />7. Feed ball on one knee, 7 or 8 paces away.<br />8. Encourage fielders to shout \&quot;Howzat\&quot; when a catch is taken.<br />9. Set up the game and do a quick demonstration.<br />10. Give a batting order.<br />11. When using more than one team, make it a mini tournament. Winners play winners, losers play losers.

Player 1 now joins back of other group on the opposite side. Group B do exactly the same.

The wicket keeper rolls the ball out for the players from each side to run onto and pick up. The fielding players run from each side in turns and try to hit the stumps with a fast throw. The keeper then collects the ball and rolls it out again for a player from the other side to run onto.

Players work in groups of 4-6 players.Two cones are spaced 10m apart. Player one stands between the two cones.Stumps are placed 10m away opposite both cones, in line with the cones.Players 2 and 3 both start behind the two stumps.Player one moves side-ways, from cone to cone, taking a catch on one cone and returning it, and performing an underarm pick-up on the other cone.Players take two balls on each side (total of 4) and then swaps over with one of the players behind the stump who in turn joins the rest of the group behind the far cone.Drill continues in this way...

Fielding Warm Up Game Catching...

Work in groups of 10. Two rows of cones are set up, 5m apart in width and 2m apart.Players get into pairs, opposite each other, lined up behind the first cone with one ball.The first pair must exchange 5 catches before running diagonally to the next cone where they repeat the 5 catches.After this players run to the next cone where they now roll the ball 5 times to their partner. The partner performs an underarm pick up and returns the ball to their partner.upon reaching the end players jog back to the start and repeat.
