Tennis: Slide & Stop

Thank you very much for the marvellous site.
Nick, Tennis coach

DESCRIPTION

  • Player starts from the service line.
  • Coach throws a short ball to the forehand side.
  • Player sprints, slides and hits a forehand stop volley down the line.

COACHING POINTS

  • Playing on clay court allows players to use this a specific type of movement so it is necessary to take the most of it.
  • During the match a player can get difficult balls while being at the net so it is important that they can control the ball even while on the move.
  • Coach should teach the players to keep their racket in front of the body and add more backspin to the shot to make it short.
  • Players who have problems with balance should pay attention to their upper body - it is possible that they bend at waist level and lose balance immediately.
