Tennis: Short Intention Under Control

Your tennis drills are extremely useful coaching tools.
Nail, Tennis coach

DESCRIPTION

  • Player stands close to the net.
  • Coach alternates feeding balls to the forehand and backhand side.
  • Player executes a forehand cross-court stop volley and a backhand stop volley down the line.

COACHING POINTS

  • To be able to land the ball close to the net, players have to learn how to properly manoeuvre the racket face in order to add backspin.
  • Feeling comfortable with hitting a stop volley from both sides is a great weapon that players can use both in singles and doubles to make opponents feel uncomfortable with the player coming to the net.
  • For more advanced players, the coach can hit faster balls or set the zone and make players hit in a given direction until they hit the zone a certain number of times.
