Tennis: Directional adjustment with backhand volley

Your tennis drills are extremely useful coaching tools.
Nail, Tennis coach

DESCRIPTION

Cones are set in the deuce corner, and the player stands at the net. The coach feeds the ball to the backhand side, with the player hitting a backhand volley cross court to the coach. The coach hits the ball back, and the player finishes with backhand volley down the line.

COACHING POINTS

Ability to play consistent balls into the corners of the court are skills that the best players have achieved by practicing. Knowing how to position the racquet to change direction effectively is important to control volleys during the practice and while competing for points.

In this drill, the player works on consistency and placement. Changing directions helps players to learn how to position properly to different backhand volleys and force them to work more with their feet.
