Tennis: Compact Backswing

Your tennis drills are extremely useful coaching tools.
Nail, Tennis coach

DESCRIPTION

  • Coach stands behind the player, keeping their racket on the backhand side of the player.
  • Player imitates backhand volley.
  • The coach’s racket limits player’s opportunity to take racket too far back.

COACHING POINTS

  • By having the coach’s racket their, the player starts to feel how to make shorter backswing.
  • A lot of players learn faster by seeing and feeling than hearing so adding additional objects to the drill is a proven way to accelerate the learning process.
  • After few successful attempts, the coach can either take their racket away or do the same exercise while moving away a few steps to see if player changes their habits while being on the run.
