DESCRIPTION

  • Player stands in the service box without a racket.
  • Coach feeds the ball to the backhand side.
  • Player tries to catch the ball in front of their body whilst stepping forward with their right leg.

COACHING POINTS

  • In this drill player works on learning where the backhand volley should be hit from.
  • By performing exercise without the racket, the player can focus solely on the ball and isloate ball perception and body control.
  • The coach should remind the player to move their hand towards the ball.
  • Additionally it is important to step forward using the right leg to develop a good habit of using the whole body while hitting a backhand volley.
