Tennis: Hit a perfect 6

Sportplan has been very helpful in guiding me through my first year...
Bill, Newly qualified coach

DESCRIPTION

Player serves from one of the sides - ad or deuce.

The player then has to hit 6 serves from 3 different spots (T, Middle, Sideline).

To develop accuracy ask the player to get all 6 serves in the opposite service box.

COACHING POINTS

It is important that players are able to serve successfuly from different positions on the baseline.

Firstly, they can apply this variety in singles as well as doubles to get advantage over the point with well-placed serve.

Secondly, serving from different spots puts more pressure on the opponent because he/she has to constantly adjust to the new angles of the serve.

PROGRESSION

As players get better make the exercise more difficult by:

  • Setting up cones for him/her to aim for
  • Or ask them to hit different serves - top-spin, slice etc
