Tennis: Shorten The Recovery Time

DESCRIPTION

  • Player stands inside the baseline.
  • Coach feeds balls to the forehand and backhand.
  • Player hits all the balls to the ad side without moving behind the baseline.

COACHING POINTS

  • In this drill, the player works on hitting the balls immediately after the bounce while being positioned inside the baseline.
  • This will create pressure on the opponent as they will have a small amount of time to return the ball. Coach has to remind the players to maintain a low dynamic position, shorten their backswing and react quickly.
  • For more advanced players, coach can add a scoring system for every shot or make them start behind the baseline and react to shorter balls with quick steps inside the baseline.
