Tennis: Have A Touch

Sportplan has been very helpful in guiding me through my first year...
Bill, Newly qualified coach

DESCRIPTION

  • Player starts on the baseline.
  • Coach feeds a short ball to the deuce side.
  • Player moves inside the court and hits a forehand drop shot down the line.

COACHING POINTS

  • Hitting a touch shot requires a good feel of the ball
  • Players should use a continental grip and they should try to add backspin by opening the racket face to make the ball fly high and short.
  • The biggest error that players commit while executing a drop shot is that they extend the hitting motion when really a drop shot should be played with a firm but short racket path.
