  • Coach stands next to the player.
  • Coach drops balls at regular height.
  • Player executes backhand at the fastest speed possible.

COACHING POINTS

  • Coach should pay attention both to the velocity of the ball as well as to the technical aspects of the stroke because many players tend to shorten motion while being under time pressure.

Serve and return pattern with forehand:

The player serves from the Deuce side, aiming for the body of the imaginary opponent.

The coach then feeds the ball to the player's backhand side.

The player then has to hit an aggressive forehand inside out by running around to get into position to hit the shot.

Behind the Baseline and Sideline:

  • Coach feeds balls to the deuce side.
  • Player alternates hitting deep forehand cross-court and forehand angle cross-court.

Attack With Comfort:

  • Coach alternates feeding low and high short balls to the deuce side.
  • Player moves inside the court and hits offensive forehand into side zones from both points of contact.

1 High 1 Low - Backhand | Forehand & Backhand Drill

1 High 1 Low - Backhand:

In this exercise, the coach feeds all the balls to one side. The player's goal is to alternate shots with higher and lower trajectory over the net, firstly hitting a high shot, followed by a low shot, and this is repeated.
