DESCRIPTION

1) Teacher alternates short drop shot and deep lob feeds from the basket.Also alternates forehand, backhand.
2)Player hits the short ball to a down the line target as an approach shot
3) Player will then move back for the smash.
4) The smash is hit cross court

OFTEN USED WITH...

Line and Drop:

Coach feeds a long ball across the court.

Players have to run across the court to play the ball deep down the line and then across to the net to play a short drop shot down the line.

Each player hits the 2 shots and then go to the back of the queue.

Movement

Short followed by lob:

Use 1/2 court to play 2 feeders per court basket in the middle of the base line.

Feeders 1st feed a short ball followed by a lob player on the other side hit the 2 shots and move out of the way for the next player.

Anticipation and reactions:

Player side steps until the coach drops a ball.

The player must catch the ball before the second bounce. Players can also start from a stationary position with heels of the ground or hopping on one leg or criss crossing the legs or with player starting with their back to coach and the coach shouting out when throwing the ball.

Movement

Back and Forth:

Both players start at service line. Red 1 has to hit a ground stroke and then approach the net and play a volley back to Blue 1 and then return to service line. Repeat 6-10 shots then stop for Blue 1 to continue drill.
