Tennis: Recovery Habits - Forehand

Sportplan has been very helpful in guiding me through my first year...
Bill, Newly qualified coach

DESCRIPTION

This drill teaches how to achieve good positioning on the court. Coach tosses balls to the one side, and the player hits the ball and recovers to the proper spot. If the shot is cross court (yellow cone), player recovers to the closer (yellow) cone. If the shot is down the line to the red cone, player has to go to the further (red) cone.

COACHING POINTS

Coach has to emphasize importance of recovery. Too many times players miss shots because they are late with preparation. Mostly, the reason for late preparation is being late with recovery of the last shot. This exercise helps players to understand where the proper position is.
