DESCRIPTION

  • Cones are set vertically on the ad side. Coach feeds the balls to the ad side with different width
  • If the ball lands on the right side from the cones (player's view), player hits regular backhand topspin
  • If the ball lands on the left side from the cones (player's view), player hits backhand slice.
  • Cones are set vertically on the ad side. Coach feeds the balls to the ad side with different width
  • If the ball lands on the right side from the cones (player's view), player hits regular backhand topspin
  • If the ball lands on the left side from the cones (player's view), player hits backhand slice.


COACHING POINTS

  • In this drill, players work on ability to choose the type of the shot according to the information that they get from ball-perception
  • With the balls closer to the player, there is enough time to set up stable position and look for more offensive shots
  • With the balls further away from the player, the time-restriction puts player under pressure and that is why it is a smart move to defend with slice and make it more difficult for the rival to deliver another challenging ball
