The coach stands behind the player with racquet in front of the body, and the player shadows forehand volley. The coach's racquet prevents from taking too big backswing.
Compact swing is a priority while playing volleys because player has half the time to react in comparison to the baseline strokes. Hitting in front of the body allows to control the ball so decent technique is necessary to play well at the net.
In this drill, the player works on technique (short and compact backswing). Coach's racquet gives immediate feedback to the player if the backswing is right or wrong.
