Tennis: Hit well and switch

Thank you very much for the marvellous site.
Nick, Tennis coach

DESCRIPTION

Zones are set in both corners. The coach feeds balls to the ad side, and the player runs around and hits forehand inside out. If the player misses the zone, he has to continue to play in this direction. If the player hits the zone, coach says "switch" and the player then hits the next ball with forehand inside in.

COACHING POINTS

Ability to hit consistent deep balls is a trademark of players like Sharapova or Williams. By alternating corners with deep balls, the player forces to opponent to run from side to side and deal with difficult shots.

In this drill, the player works on consistency and placement of forehand inside out and inside in. Zones give constant feedback to the player so coach can observe how the player adjusts his/her game. With more players, coach can use this drill as a competition and score points for each good hit.
