DESCRIPTION

Split the players into 2 equal groups, Both hitting forehands.

Coach feeds left then right.

Players have to move out to the ball and try to hit the ball into the coned are down the line.

Play first team to score 10 points.

Hit deep to score:

Split the group into 2 teams.

One of each team goeas and stands in the box on the opposite side of the net and has to try and return the ball down the line each time.

They are not allowed out of the box to start with.

The Game.

Coach feeds alternate sides.

Attacking forehands on the move:

Coach feeds three balls per player from the basket.

Players should aim to hit the targets (as in diagram - can use cones to mark out targets).

The aim is to encourage players to progressively attack on the move.

Forehands Line ball, with direction and change of direction.:

Drill Set-Up:

  • Two forehands shots down the line.
  • Third shot cross court.
  • Players start off on centre and controls rally with coach, players play third ball cross court.
    Topic of Emphasis:
    The down the line contact point should not be too close to the body and contact should be later for down the line.
    Variation:
    Second forehand can be inside out and the third can be down the line with depth.

    Cross court inside-out forehands:

    The coach feeds the first ball in and then players have to keep the rally going, running around the ball to play a cross-court forehand into the coned area.

    So player 1 hits the ball to player 1 on the other team who then returns to player 2 and so on.
