DESCRIPTION

Drill Set-Up:
Players start ofrf on centre and rallys 2 balls back to coach and plays third shot down the line.
Topic of Emphasis:

Players try to recover after first shot and try to hit to catch with depth.

Coach should not volley below the net.
Variation:
Second forehand could be inside out and third forehand could go cross court with depth.

Forehands Line ball, with direction and change of direction.:

Drill Set-Up:

Two forehands shots down the line.

Third shot cross court.

Players start off on centre and controls rally with coach, players play third ball cross court.
Topic of Emphasis:
The down the line contact point should not be too close to the body and contact should be later for down the line.
Variation:
Second forehand can be inside out and the third can be down the line with depth.

Forehand Drills

Forehands. Forward / Insideout, with recovery. (Dead ball):

Drill Set-Up:
Players line up on centre; move out to play play strokes amd recovery back to centre (touch cones) then move out to play second ball.
Topic of Emphasis:

Players should take quick adjusting steps and as they get closer to ball smaller quicker steps should be taken just prior to contact.

Coach dictates the side.
Variation:

Players can alternate the direction of the shots.

Balls can be hit high or deep by the coach.

Forehand Drills

Forehands Deep / Short (Dead Ball):

Drill Set-Up:

Players start off in backhand corner (Doubles alley).

Players move out to play first F.H. along baseline and then moves forwards to play short ball inside service box.
Topic of Emphasis:
Players should split step after first forhand and then move off for second shortball.
Variation

Players can alternate direction for both shots.

If the ball is too low on the second ball it should be hit cross court, if high it should be hit down the line.

Forehand Drills

Forehands (Inside out) (Dead Ball) Forward.:

Drill set-Up:
Players start off on centre and moves around backhand for first forehand then moves off to play seconf forehand.
Topic of Emphasis:
Players should turn and prepare, back peddle for inside out forehand, then recovering and pushes off for second forehand.
Variation:
Players can alternate the direction of the balls, as well the coach can vary positions 1 - 3.
