Coach feeds easy balls to the advantage side. The player runs around and hits a forehand inside out/in, aiming for the ball to land between the two cones.
Players need repetitions to master any skill in tennis so basket drill is a primary tool to learn how to control the shot. Player should focus on footwork pattern and also on consistency and placement of the ball. With beginners, coach should establish one target zone for a longer time (deuce or advantage side) to make sure that they hit the same balls every time. With more advanced players, coach can vary the exercise with different patterns of forehand inside out/in.
