Tennis: Deuce Pressure Return

Thanks for everything! Sportplan has helped me to improve my tennis...
Andrea, Tennis coach

DESCRIPTION

Coach serves wide from the deuce side, and the player hits a forehand cross-court return, aiming for the ball to bounce in the coned area. Modification includes coming to the net after returning and finishing with forehand in the air.

COACHING POINTS

Having a solid return from the deuce side can result in more advantages and break points for the player. At the junior level, many players lose points because of unforced returning mistakes or by giving short and easy returns after well-placed serves. At the beginning of this exercise, the player works on placement and depth by trying to hit a forehand cross-court return. It is important to possess consistent and deep cross-court return to limit server's possibilities.
