Tennis: Press Opponent's Backhand

Thank you very much for the marvellous site.
Nick, Tennis coach

DESCRIPTION

  • Player and coach rally together.
  • Coach stands in ad corner and hits 2 balls to player's backhand and 1 ball to player's forehand.
  • Player executes pattern of hitting 2 backhand slices cross-court and 1 forehand topspin down the line.

COACHING POINTS

  • Players works on keeping the ball in one side of the court while using different shots and spins.
  • The majority of players have weaker backhand side than forehand side so patterns should include playing more balls into the backhand zone.
  • Coach should pay attention to how consistent players are and how much tactical variety they use even while playing in the same direction.
  • It is recommended to repeat the same pattern to the deuce side in case player will be playing against left-handed player and the backhand, in this case, will be on the deuce side.
