Tennis: Four shots, Four winners!

DESCRIPTION

Players start in the centre and hit four shots from the coach's feed:

  1. The first shot should be a deep forehand.
  2. Second shot is a short forehand.
  3. Third shot is a short backhand.
  4. Finally the fourth shot is a deep backhand.

COACHING POINTS

Players should start in the centre and drive to meet each ball, using fast feet to get themselves ready for each shot

The key thing is to get each ball in! Placement comes first, power comes later!

Forehands (Inside out) (Dead Ball) Forward.:

Drill Set-Up:
Players line up on the centre and moves out to play first forehand and then runs around backwards and plays forehand.
Topic of Emphasis:
After the first forehand the player needs to back peddle with the racket turned and should step away from the ball prior to contact.
Variation:
Players can alternate directions and coach can feed from 1 - 3 positions.

Ground strokes under pressure:


-Feeder hits first ball to forehand alley.
-The second ball if fed to backhand alley.
-The third feed goes deep to the forehand side.

Long and short down the line | Forehand & Backhand Drill

Long and short down the line:


-The Coach feeds (i) long then (ii) short.
-Each player has two shots,both must go down the line.
-Player is aiming for the targets.

Deep Forehand And Backhand Drill:

Players will be fed 2-6 balls each.

The balls are hit down the line into the target area as marked by the cones.

The feeding can be varied i.e. higher, faster or with more spin.
