Linsent, Tennis coach

DESCRIPTION

  • Cones are set on the player’s side in horizontal pattern
  • The player starts from left side, moves between the cones and executes forehand volley into the target
  • The player recovers back and moves between the next cones
  • After reaching the last cone on the right side, player does the same with movement to the left and hits backhand volley

COACHING POINTS

  • In this drill, player works on forehand and backhand volley with specific forward movement
  • Learning constant movement is necessary for kids to understand that volleys are not about standing and reaching to the ball
  • Good players at the net move quickly and have full control over the body while hitting so working on these skills from the beginning will give big advantage to the players while competing in the future both in singles and doubles
  • Coach can make it more competitive and allow to move to the next cone only when player hits the zone with the cones.
