DESCRIPTION

  • Player starts from the service line. Coach feeds balls to the deuce side
  • Player hits forehand volleys cross-court until he hits 2 times in a row into the zone
  • After achieving this task, player aims at down the line direction with the same goal

COACHING POINTS

  • In this drill, player works on consistency and control over the depth of the forehand volley
  • In many situations in the match, player has to place the ball close to the baseline to achieve better position at the net as also to keep opponent in difficult situation to hit effective passing shot
  • The coach should recommend to the player to keep the racket face open and to apply backspin for achieving maximal control
  • For more advanced players, the coach can give higher number of balls to hit in a row to challenge the mental aspects of player's development
