Basketball: Turn and Pass

1 Basketball bounces high, the other is low and controlled

Wrap the ball around both legs, once the ball has made a complete rotation step one leg forward and take the ball around that leg. After the ball has made a complete rotation, that leg steps back, then the ball goes around both legs again. This process is continued using both legs.

2 Basketballs going front and back at the same time.

Players stand 10 feet apart. The basketballs will be passed back and forth to each other. The player must control the basketball with the hand the ball was passed to.

Players stand 20 feet apart. Players pass over hand and must control the ball with the hand the ball was passed to.

2 ball dribble, both basketballs going side-to-side

The most important thing is that you get your players used to handling the basketball. You should make it so the basketball feels like it an extension of your hand.

Starting with the ball in one hand, throw it behind the back and over the alternate shoulder to land in the opposing hand. Repeat.

Stand close towards the wall with the ball on your dominant hand and bounce it against the wall using only the tips of your fingers.

Stand close towards the wall with a ball in each hand. Bounce the balls simultainously against the wall. How many times you can do it without stopping?

A progression from the previous exercise. Alternate the ball that you bounce against the wall. Requires extra coordination and control of the basketball.

2 basketballs dribbling at the same time, every bounce your hands switch which basketballs they bounce.

Have the cones set up in a straight line, Dribble at the cone and stop right in front of it and dribble all the way around the cone with controlled fingertip dribbles. Once a full rotation has been completed then you move on to the next cone.

Legs bent, hold the ball between the legs, one hand around the back of one leg, the other in front of the other, like in the image. Release the ball, imparting slight upward momentum. Rotate the torso to catch the ball with the alternate arms behind the leg and in front.

Stand with feet shoulder width apart and hold the ball in front with both hands at the level of your chest. Drop theball, clap your hands behind your back and catch the ball before it bounces.

Stand upright with the ball behind your neck. Let the ball go and clap your hands in front of your body, and then catch the ball behind the back.

Player 1 starts with the ball and throws it against the basket, deliberately missing, before catching the rebound and dribbling the ball up the court. When player 1 sets off up the court player 2 should run to the outside of the court alongside them. As the players reach the key player should cut in to receive the ball and then perform a lay up. Player 2 then catches the ball again and dribbles up the court with a new player to restart the drill in the other direction.
