Basketball: Down Screen and Fill Cut

DESCRIPTION

The player at the elbow will go and set a screen on the player along the baseline.

Once the screen is set the player receiving the screen will cut up towards the elbow.

The screener will roll to the basket.

COACHING POINTS

This screen is to get a player open that is away from the ball.

Cross Screen | Screening

Cross Screen:

The attacker starts on the sideline of the court, with the defender facing away from the ball.

The attacker then feints goal wards then comes back across the defender to receive the pass.

Back Screen | Screening

Back Screen:

The back screen happens when the lower offensive player sets a screen for a player higher up on the court.

The screen will be set on someone's back and the player receiving the screen will cut towards the basket.

Double Screen | Screening

Double Screen:

This type of screen will be used to get a player open for a shot.

The screeners will stand side by side which makes it a wider screen so it is harder for a defender to get around.

Off the screen shooting drill | Screening

Off the screen shooting drill:

Setup the practice as shown.

Player 3 runs into the arc and runs off the screen created by player 2 before receiving the ball from player 1, turning and then shooting.

Player 3 then collects the ball and returns the ball back to player 1.
