Basketball Drill Demonstration
|
Description
For this drill the minimum number is 8 players but more players can participate by joining to form a queue behind number 2, 3, or 4 on either side. Although only shown on the left side of the court, this drill is run simultaneously on both sides. The aim of this drill is to look at good passing to a moving player and the ability to send a good pass for a player to perform a lay-up without needing to put the ball on the floor or travel.
Coaching points
For this drill the focus is on player 1. this player runs a straight line up the court passing to each line and receiving the pass back. They continue to do this until they have received the pass from player 4 (which should be a chest pass close enough to the basket for them to perform a lay-up without any travel). After they have taken their lay up they join the line behind red 2 directly opposite. After each player has passed back to blue 1 they join the next line along 2-3-4 and 4 must get the rebound (before it his the floor) and will then become the passer and runner on the other side. During this drill the ball MUST NOT TOUCH THE FLOOR!!!!
The Drill is often used with
