Basketball: Dribble with Spin

Dribble out with a ball in each hand.

As above, but one ball passes under one of your legs.

Once you have mastered the 2 ball dribble, add a crossover by switching which ball is being controlled by which hand.

Dribbling with 2 balls, switch the hands controlling the ball by passing one behind your back, and the otherone in front of you.

Dribble bouncing the ball up to shoulder height 3 times. Then bend the knees and bounce the ball no higher than knee height 3 times. Repeat this pattern.

Using another ball to shield your view of the ball that you are dribbling, but allowing you sight of the floor ahead, dribble out and back 5m.

Players dribble the ball 5m whilst sprinting and come to a jump stop.

Technique for moving the ball from behind the back to in front of the body whilst dribbling. Note the ball should always bounce in the same place.

Ball handling progression. Players using their fingertips to push the ball down onto the court. Go through the series of stationary dribbles. Waist high dribble Shoulder high dribble Ankle high dribble

First stage in dribbling ball between the legs. Start with feet shoulder width apart, bouncing the ball outside the right foot. Lead forwards with left foot. As the foot plants and the weight transfers forwards, bounce the ball under the leg and collect it with the left hand.

Transfer the ball from left to right behind the back.

Transfer the ball over a bench whilst seated, behind the back. Forces control as players cannot adjust their feet to make allowances for poor control.

Transfer the ball from left to right over a bench.

Bribble the ball along the floor. When you come to the bench, dribble the ball on the bench. The different material of the bench will require adaptation by the player to power input to the ball and control.

Dribbling on the spot or on the move, get creative and do every dribble move you can think of as fast as you can. Imagine there is a defender in front of you or that you have to get past. 

Dribble the ball around one leg and through the legs. Keep the hand not dribbling the ball tucked into the chest. Alternate hands to improve the less dominant hand.

Exchange of the ball from dribbling outside the left foot to outside the right foot. Note the transfer of weight in time with the transfer of the ball.

Dribble the ball shielding it with a half spin. Then drive through the left shoulder into vacant space.
