Defenders who are occuping the middle intersection are reposnible for defending and intercepting passes from the players in possesion of the ball whilst stayin inside the middle zone. Players in possesion of the ball must also stay within their occupied area which is outisde of the blue cones which are situated as the zone for the defenders to stay inside and work as a unit to breakdown any passes made past, through or over them. The three defenders inside the blue zone should work as a controlled and focussed back line and keep up with the ball.
Defending in these sitautions are a good session for the real life game as a simple task as defending as a unit can be the difference between winning and losing a game. Its important that the way in which the defensive line works is professional and accurate. The players in the blue zone have a task of shifting from left to right following the pass of the ball preventing the ball from being passed to the other players that are behind them in the outside zone.
Not all passes will be easy to stop during the middle of the field, for example long balls over the top of the defense can be made so the ideal scenario for this session for the defenders in the middle one would be as simple as dropping right to the back of the blue zone making it harder for that long ball over the top to reach their team mates.
The final achievment for the players in posession is to recive the ball from the opposite side and then pass the ball into the two goals either side of them scoring one point for each time this happens.
20-30 minute light session
> defenders must prevent the ballbeing passed through their defensive line.
> Defenders should move as unit in the diretion of where the ball is being passed, i.e if the ball is being passed from right to left the defender have a simple task of moving as a unit and follow the pass of the ball.
> Passes will be minimal if the defenders focus on their ball watching skills and their defensive line.
> No defensive line will cause passes to be made and defenses to be fragile and easy to punish in a sitaution like this.
