The ball is played by the coach in to the Goalkeeper, who then, with the Centrebacks and Holding Midfielder, must work the ball to dribble through one of the 3 gates, placed in the central area and wing areas.
ST1 & ST2 must press the ball and try and win it back. If they do, they must try and score.
If the defenders manage to dribble through the gate, the coach must immediately play a ball out wide to one of the waiting Wingers, who must work with the Strikers to try and score.
The defenders must regain their shape and try and recover the ball as quickly as possible.
Every time the attackers have an attack, the Strikers switch with the two waiting Strikers in order to keep energy levels high.
This is a great exercise, as it gets the defensive players comfortable with the ball at their feet, as well as allowing the attacking players a chance to cross and score.
