  • 1 ball in play at 1 time, all 4 players on the blue team in a square must touch the ball at least once before passing the ball through to the other square whilst 1red team player goes into the square to try and tackle the blue team
  • The remaining 2 red players in the rectangle are to try and intercept the passes played from square to square.
  • Red team rotates the player that goes into the square every time the ball is played across the 2 squares

WHY?

This drill improves passing vision, player sharpness and alertness as well as their abaility to stay composed to pick out a pass whilst surrounded by opposing players.

This drill is suitable for players in any position. Playing the ball out from the back in defence, playing the ball forward to attackers in the midfield and even for strikers when they look to pass back out of trouble.

COACHING POINTS

  • Introduce a second ball to be played at the same time
  • increase the number of defenders and decrease the number or attackers
