DESCRIPTION

  • 4v2 Continuous Transition (8v4)
  • An area 45 yd x 20 yards divided into three equal sections

  • Initially it is 4v2 in first section, 3v2 in second section and additional player in third section.

  • The game is 2 touch

  • Light Blue (see diagram) try to pass ball from section one to section two. If they do one light blue player joins that section to make it 4v2

  • They then attempt to pass to the lone player at the end if they do that 3 players join plus two defenders to make 4v2.

Progression:

  • 4v2 towards goal
  • The server begins by passing a ball to one of the four attackers.
  • The attackers use crossover runs, overlapping runs, and wall passes to create a breakaway that results in a quick shot on goal.
  • The defenders can score by winning the ball and completing a pass back to the server, but they cannot drop past the cone line until the ball has entered the final zone.

Coaching Points:

  • The attackers need to use quick ball movement and find penetrating passes to create breakaways for their teammates.
  • Can 2 players support short, whilst one goes longer
  • Can players use combination plays and 3rd man runs.
