This activity will help perfect early support, movement without the ball, and good angle, timing and distance of support.
Create two 18 x 18 grids with one common side. Split the team up into teams of 4 players. Place 4 players in one grid as attackers with two players from another team as defenders. Have the remaining two players from the defending team in the other grid.
Play a 4 v 2 in the first grid focusing on early support, good angles, good distance, and good timing, giving the player with the ball at least 2 passing options at all times.
The defender's objective is to gain possession and pass to a teammate in the other grid. If this happens, those two defemders join their team in the other grid and they become attackers. The person who caused the turnover along with one other teammate joins in the new grid as defenders and a new 4 v 2 game is played.
The game should be very dynamic and players should be moving at all times, even the players waiting in the opposite grid should be moving to put themselves in a good supporting role.

Under FutureFit, your Under-9s stay at 5v5, your Under-11s stay at 7v7 and your Under-13s stay at 9v9. Same pitch, same numbers, one more year. Here is how to make sure that year feels like a step forward rather than a repeat.
Most 1v1s are lost in the first second, when the defender rushes in and dives. Teach your players to slow the attacker down, take away the dangerous option and pick the right moment, and they will win far more of them.
The FA's FutureFit framework lands this season, bringing a 3v3 entry format at Under-7s. Here is what actually changes on a Saturday morning, and how to coach it well.
