DESCRIPTION

Session 1 (Practice Games 3v3)

Area: 8m x 8m

Blues to keep possession. The defender is trying to win the ball and to protect it in a 1v1 against the player who gave the ball away. The defender will work for 30 seconds before changing with a player on the outside.

  1. If the defender can keep the ball for five seconds, then they exit the middle before the time limit.
  2. If the defender can dribble out of the area, then they exit the middle before the time limit.
  3. The defender must try and win the ball within ten passes.


Session 2 (Technical Gameplay)

Area: 10m x 10m

Blues to keep possession. If the defenders win the ball, then they can score in any goal. The defenders will work for 45 seconds before changing with a Blue player.

  1. Only the player winning the ball can score.
  2. Defenders can only score on a one touch finish.
  3. If every player touches the ball, then they can go for goal.


Session 3 (Attacking Combinations In SSG’s)

Area: 8m x 8m (x2 areas)

Blues to keep possession. The defenders will work for 45 seconds before changing with a Blue player. If the defenders win the ball, then they are looking to score in any goal.

  1. The Blues have five footballs. What is the total number of passes they can make?
  2. Allow the players to decide on the area size and shape.
  3. The Red defenders must decide a rule for the Blue players (E.G. one touch, can’t pass back to the same player etc…)

COACHING POINTS

Session 1

  • Win the ball to protect.
  • Win the ball to transition and turn defence into attack.
  • Press to steal the ball as quickly as possible.


Session 2

  • Team in possession to pass and move to keep the ball away from the defenders and to limit the chances of them scoring.
  • Transition in and out of possession and adapting to the situation in the game.
  • Every player involved with movement and an attitude to receive passes.


Session 3

  • Each possession is important, and the players must take care with each action.
  • You want to understand how the players feel within the session and wheather they need space.
  • You want the team with the big overload to be tested and the defenders to know that they should do well as they set the rules
