Rebound

Need to anticipate where the ball is going to go and the speed of the ball. Stand about 2 meters from the basket. Toss the ball up to the rim simulate a shot. Jump and rebound the ball.

1 on 1 Box-Out

Player starts the move by shooting - aiming to hit the rim to create the rebound for the other two players. When the shot goes up the defensive player will turn and box-out the offensive player attempting to get the rebound.

1 v 1 Rebounding

1 offensive player and 1 defensive player. The ball will be thrown up at the basket. The defensive player must go make contact(box out) the offensive player and get the rebound. Once the defensive player has the rebound, they pass back out to the shooter. The drill rotation is offence to defence, the defence goes off to the back of the line.

2 on 2 Rebound Drill

Coach has the ball. Players are moving as if in a game. Coach will toss ball on backboard. Defensive players must box out and rebound. Offensive players try to rebound and score.

3 Man Backboard Rebound

Players should throw the ball onto the backboard to generate a rebound for another player on the other side of the basket. The rebounding player should take the ball in the air and throw the ball back onto the backboard for another rebound before landing.

3 on 3 Rebound Drill

Coach has the ball. Players are moving as if in a game. Coach will toss ball on backboard. Defensive players must box out and rebound. Offensive players try to rebound and score.

3 Person Rebound reaction drill

Use large traffic cones The coach shoots and the players must try and get to the rebound by dodging through the cones. Once a player reaches the rebound they can either try and score or turn and pass to the coach

4 on 4 Rotate Box-Out Drill

Four players on each team. The offence will set up around the outside of the 3 point line. The defence will be set out around the key. When the coach yells rotate, the defensive team rotates around to the next position. When the coach shoots the ball, the defensive players will box out the offensive players attacking for the rebound. If the offensive team gets a rebound they play live trying to score. If it is a defensive rebound then the teams will switch over.

Attacking rebound drill

Players toss the ball up on the backboard for themselves to then catch on the rebound. After catching the rebound players should go back up and this time try to score. Lastly players collect their ball and pass it to the next player.

Block Box Out Rebound

Player 1 has ball and makes a jump shot. Player 2 must start from the other side of the free throw line and try and make a block. The shot having been made, player 2 should screen player 1 from coming through to get the rebound. Player 2 should make the rebound.

Champion Rebound - Winner stays on

Three rebounders all stand inside the key. The coach tosses the ball up for the 1st three players to battle for the rebound. The player that catches the ball is the attacker the remaining two players then try to stop the attacker from scoring.

Competitive Rebounding

This drill requires 3 players around the basket with one feeder/coach. The ball is thrown up at the basket, the players will battle for the rebound.

Continuous Rebound

Players line up on 3 point line.Throw ball against the backboard and roll away. Next player jumps to take the rebound and throws it against the backboard again for the next player. Players must jump then catch and release the ball before they hit the ground.

Five times run and shoot

Working in pairs one players stands under the basket with the other player on the half way line. The player on the half way line runs towards the key to receive the ball from the other player. Once they receive the ball they should use the jump stop and then put the ball in the triple threat position before taking a shot. The shooter than collects their ball, whether it's a rebound or a successfully completed shot, and then passes back to their partner before running back to the half way line. Players should repeat this 5 times before swapping with their partner.

Meat Grinder - Score to get out

This is a high pressure shooting drill designed to teach players to hold their ground and shoot under pressure. Rules: Players must shoot from inside the key. No dribbling (once they have the ball they must shoot). Players must make a basket before they can get out of the key in this all against all drill.Once a player scores and gets out a new player must come in (start with 6 players inside the key).

Multiple rebounds

The coach feeds the ball off the backboard. If the offence gets it and scores they get 2 points. If the defence gets the rebound, they get 1 point. As soon as the coach shoots then its a 2 v 2 game.

Offensive Rebounding

Stand about 2 meters from the basket. Toss the ball up to the rim to simulate a shot. Jump and rebound the ball. Shoot using a jump hook. Do this drill 10 times. The next 10 cab be tipped in or rebound out of the net and use a power move.

Offensive rebounding – roll off the key

Roll off the key to the baseline and push back in from the baseline to gain inside position for offensive rebounding. Repeat 10 times on both sides of the board.

The player that catches the ball is the attacker, and the remaining two players then try to stop the attacker from scoring. The 1st player to make 2 baskets moves to the end of their line. The winner is the 1st team to get all 3 players through.
