Beaumont Technical Session Theme â Goalkeeper Dynamic Warm Up Duration: 5-10 minutes Setup: 2 lines of cones approx. 15 metres apart Description: Players will form 2 lines behind cones and complete the following. The movements will be done from the first cone to the second and then a job back to the first cone. Jog (2 times) Side Shuffle (left) Side Shuffle (right) Open Gate Close Gate High kicks Knee Pull 4 Cone Shuffle Duration: 15-30 minutes Area: Requires 4 cones in a line approx. 0.5m apart Equipment: 4 cones per group, 2-3 balls per group, 2-3 players per group. Set up: - Set 4 cones in a line approx. 0.5m apart. - 1 player standing behind cones (Goalie) - 1 (or two) players opposite side of cones approx. 5m away. These players will have the ball(s) Description: - Goalie motion will start at one end of the cones and then shuffle sideways to middle of next set of cones and then forward. At this point the other player will toss the ball for the Goalie to catch using one of the skills below. - Goalie returns the ball back and then shuffles back and to next cone. - Repeat to the end and then back to the start. - Switch players to Goalie position Skills: - Catch with hands in âWâ shape. Hold ball momentarily and check grip - Chest Level catch - Loft catch (above head) - Slightly to left or right side - Switch from âweavingâ in the cones to a shuffle over - Use different techniques to return the ball. Thrower calls each time 2 hand catch âWâ Left/Right one hand catch 2 hand punch Expected Outcomes: - Players should always be on the balls of their feet - Players should focus on the ball - Players should work on correct grip for the catch
