The drill tests long ball defending and reacting to the second ball.
Set up the defence as preferred, 3 at the back or 4 at the bak, with two midfielders inbetween the attacking team.
The coach will launch a ball towards the defence who will have to deal with the ball and recover quickly to regain posession of the ball. The defence's objective is to run the ball to the goals either side of the half way line.
Point - if the central defenders are attacking the ball in the air, the fullback/other defender must go one behind incase they miss the ball.
The midfielders must anticipate the drop down for the second ball to prevent the attacking team picking up the ball.
The goalkeeper must be shouting clear instructions on positioning as they can see the entire picture.
