This is a possesion drill and an advanced possession drill. It is a free flowing exercise where everyone has to always be on there toes and working as a team to gain or retain possession. Constantly checking over their shoulder to see their suroundings and if there is space to turn or if its going to be a quick pass and move. Moving into space and creating tight and intricate patterns of play to develop switches of play to make the box as big as possible leaving the opposition team no way to intercept the ball because it is moving at such a high speed and tempo that they will become breathless and lethargic causing them to dip in concentration levels and therefore their pressing will be second best making it easier for you to be the dominant side and creat many different sequences and patterns of play.
Advanced Possession
Advanced possession drill with finishing. This is a more complex drill but will be simplified if the correct attention is given to detail and you have a good understanding of the previous drill. The concept is the same as the previous drill where 2 teams are keeping possession against each other. 1 team will be keeping possession and when 10 passes are complete they will be able to shoot into the 11 aside goal. The other team that is defending the 11 aside goal will be going towards the opposite end of the box and their target is to dribble through either of the far right or far left cones. They will be doing this at a fast pace and there is no required amount of passes before they can dribble through.
Monitor the players to gauge their understanding of the drill and assist when required to improve .
