DRILL #2 AGILITY, SET POSITION, BALL COLLECTION/ LOW DIVE

DESCRIPTION

PROCEDURE

  1. GK icky shuffles through the cones til the mannequin.
  2. GK gets into SET (S) position before the mannequin.
  3. GK icky shuffles in front of the mannequin and gets into SET position again.
  4. GK moves right across to the nearest cone.
  5. GK makes a diagonal run towards cone.
  6. GK moves side ways in between the cones.
  7. GK gets into SET position to collect the ball.
  • Progression: After 2-3 repetition each from both sides the GK stops after the diagonal run to SET position for a low dive. This is continued for 2-3 times each from both the sides.

COACHING POINTS

  • AGILITY: Quick feet, don't stand tall while moving, no overlapping of legs while moving side ways.
  • SET Position:

Feet shoulder width apart ( or 3-4' more than shoulder width).

Knee flexed (knee position approx. above the toes)

Hips down

Back must not be bend

Arm flexed

Firm wrist

Body weight forward.

  • BALL COLLECTION: Move from SET position to STARTING Position by moving one step forward just before the ball is shot.
  • LOW DIVING: Step forward to dive for the grounded ball with THREE HANDS SAVE.
