Set Up
40x30yrds grid.
Teams of 4 (3xRed, 4xYellow, 4xBlue).
Red Team All Midfielders
Yellow Team Center backs and Fullbacks. These players can be used neutrally by the two central Teams
Blue Team 2 Wingers/ Forwards 2 Midfielders.
INSTRUCTIONS:
The Blue team plays top to bottom to the target CB1, CB2. Players are allowed to Dribble.
The Red team plays left to right to the targets FB1, FB2. Players must play 1 - 2 Touches.
Each team passes and moves inside the playing area between its own coloured players.
Passes must be on the ground.
The aim is to transfer the ball from one target player (In Yellow) to the other target player to score a point.
Every player must touch the ball before the ball reaches the player at the opposite end.
Both teams can use any Target player, and if a Target Player recieves a pass from a Player he must return the ball to a player on that team.
The target player who plays the ball into the the central area can join in with the attack to create an offensive overload in the main grid. One Player on the team that have possession must retreat to cover for him (Leave the playing area and become the Target player). The Target player must then immediately retreat back to a supporting position after passing the ball and the player who covered him return to the center.
If an attacking player (Blue Team) can play a pass to the Target player (Full back upperating up and down the grid), on the opposite flank then Red Team earn a point.
Full Back Target Players must not remain in attacking thirds, instead they must remain with the play.
Emphasis on good quality ground passing.
Work on instep passing and also outside of the foot passing.
Players work on pressing together
Players work on creating angles.
Learn how to cover players.
Look for intense playing tempo from Red Team especially.
This is strenuous for the 3 Red Midfielders so switch every 6 - 10 Mins
