DESCRIPTION

  1. Participants remain in 2 groups of 7.
  2. 4 Samba goals are placed 50m apart in a diamond set up in order to create 2 pitches crossing over.
  3. One team of 7 lines up half and half at the side of 2 goals.
  4. Other team of 7 mirror the opposition in direct competition.
  5. Teams take turns in order to create a 1 v 1 towards goal.
  6. 1 v 1 always starts with the defender playing a drilled pass into the attackers feet.
  1. Ensure rotation is correct and every player alternates between being an attacker and a defender.
  2. Defender is quick to shut down the attacker in order to deny the attacker the opportunity to lift their head.
  3. Angled run in order to deny the attacker spaces to attack.
  4. Low centre of gravity in order for the defender to change body position quickly.
  5. Patience when jockeying attacker in order to not commit to a tackle to early.
  6. Give examples of possible 1 v 1's in a game i.e a full back v a winger etc.
