There are three channels, defender each defends their channel to teach shape and the role of each defender. Attackers are allowed to switch between channels and play as they please, defenders focus on picking up the players in their channel.
Defender with the ball in their channel steps out to delay, the other two defenders hold a line behind them in support.
Picking up runs: If a defender off the ball sees a run, he needs to learn to pick up that run, and stop in line with the other defender to hold an offsides line.
Positioning: Defenders need to maintain position between the ball and the goal
Patience: Defenders need to be patient and let the attacker make the mistake.
Closing down: They also need to close down the ball quickly to not allow space for a shot.
