This game is designed to split the pitch into thirds; Attacking, Midfield and Defending. It is designed for younger players and allows them to understand the role and position each position plays in a game of football.
Start by marking out the thirds of the pitch, I'd Advise using flat markers rather than cones so that they do not influence the game.
Split the group into 2 equal teams and then either assign positions or allow them to choose where they want to. If a player is a defender, they must stay in their defensive third and cannot leave.
Allow the game to run without any other rules at first and allow the players to learn and experiment with the game.

Teams have just 6 seconds to exploit a turnover before defences reorganise. Learn how to train your players to attack with speed and purpose.
The U10 age group is the golden window for developing ball mastery. Miss it, and you're playing catch-up forever. Here's how to get it right.
