DESCRIPTION

the set up for this session is the same however make the area bigger if it was not already done during the previous session.

the groups will now be made of 6 with three defenders and three attackers. now that there is an extra defender there will be two covering defenders at all times.

when the ball is played the closest defender will close the ball, however if the pass is made to the middle the two defenders that are not closing the ball will take a covering position either side. if the ball is played to the outside/wing the closest defender will close, the next closest will cover and the furthest defender will cover the cover. This defender will sit back however they will not sit back creating a massive space infront and will not sit to high creating a massive space in behind.

  • defenders will deny space and time on the ball.
  • body position, are they side on, are they restricting a pass, are they sending the attacker into a cu de sac or a defensive partner.7
  • can they force the attacker onto their weaker foot.
  • are the covering defenders in the correct positions, can they see the ball and their attacker.
  • communication, who is pressing, who is covering and who is covering the cover.
