Passing shots

To maintain accurate passing down the line. Passing shots under extreme pressure.   Coach feeds to alternate sides for Player A. Player A hits down the line shots to beat player B. Player B attempts to intercept the passing shots on the volley.

Perfect 8

Player goes around the cones and hits forehands and backhands.

Movement

Play on the smile

Purpose: Learn correct movement "cutting in" to play shorter balls. Coach feeds alternately from side to side. Player must stay inside the throw down lines and learn to move in a "smile" shape around the baseline. Feed in sets of 10-12 balls.

Prepare Deep & Finish Short

Player starts from the baseline. Coach feeds a slow and high ball to the forehand side. Player sprints forward and hits deep forehand volley on the run to the ad side. Player follows to the net with the coach feeding a second ball to the ad side. Player finishes with backhand stop volley cross-court.

Quick Change

Coach stands in front of the player and feeds random balls (Forehand, Backhand, Low, Short, Deep etc). Player has to react and adjust to incoming balls.

Quick Feet Around the Ball

Player rolls the ball. Player tries to make as many circles around the ball as possible while facing the net all the time.

Coach feeds balls to the ad side Player executes regular backhand strokes From time to time, coach feeds one ball to the deuce side Player adjusts the grip and hits regular forehand

React & Counter

Player starts from the service line. Coach drops the ball from the net to the deuce side. Player sprints to the ball and hits a counter drop-shot cross-court with control.

Reactional Groundstrokes

Player takes position behind the baseline facing the back fence. Coach stands inside the court. Coach gives voice signal and feeds the ball to either the backhand or forehand side. Player reacts, turns around and hits forehand/backhand over the net.

Reactional Running

Coach stands in front of the player and keeps one ball in hand. Player performs dynamic footwork. Coach drops the ball randomly. Player starts to the ball and tries to catch it after one bounce.

Recovery Habits - Backhand

This drill teaches how to achieve good positioning on the court. Coach tosses balls to the one side, and the player hits the ball and recovers to the proper spot. If the shot is cross court (yellow cone), player recovers to the closer (yellow) cone. If the shot is down the line to the red cone, player has to go to the further (red) cone.

Return Without Waiting

Player works on returns Cones are set on the player’s side to leave spaces where player can move diagonally to hit the ball

Returning a drop shot down the line

Coach stands close to the net and feeds balls close to the net on the player's side of the court to mimic a drop shot. Starting at the baseline the player has to run and hit a return drop shot down the line. Cones should be set out to give the player a target to aim for.

Running Rival

Coach feeds balls in three different directions (forehand, centre, backhand). Player moves to the balls and hits all of them into side zones.

Serve And Body Ball

Player serves the ball, and immediately after serving, the coach tosses a deep ball into player's body. The player's goal is to move back and hit with control.

Serve And Build The Point With Forehand

Player serves wide from the ad side. Coach feeds 2 balls to the ad side. Player executes pattern using forehand inside in and forehand inside out.

Serve with Opening

Player serves from one side. Coach feeds random ball as a return. Player reacts and hits the next shot to the open space.
