Time: 10 minutes Space: 30'40 Number of Players: Activity: Coach puts the ball into White's side and the greens send three defenders to apply pressure. White team need to connect six passes minimum before they try to connect with orange. After 4 passes, another defender travels in. Since players in the middle are on defenders, aerial passes usually work best to get the ball to the other side, but let's try to promote a ground ball. If the green team recovers the ball, they can connect with greens or orange, and switch side with white. Whites start defending. Specific Objectives - Start the pressing action over the potential receiver once the player with the ball releases the pass to him - Do not press by moving straight ahead. Instead, curve your movement to attack the potential receiver towards one of his sides. - Orient the potential receiver according to his weaker foot or the number of teammates supporting you in either side. Sucess Criteria - Use high intensity actions and prioritize ball recovery during pressing actions. If the attacker is facing forward, do not attempt for ball recovery. - Tackle the attacker when he is facing towards the sidelines, or he just turned towards only one option
Triggers for pressure (pass into weak foot, bad first touch, wrong body shape, lack of options) Force bad decisions from attacking team. Defending is a collective behaviour, don't do it isolated Cut passing lines
