4-3-3 Formation Rondo

DESCRIPTION

Set Up

Mark out a 40x35yrd grid preferably in the space between the 18 Yard box and the half way line.

15 players split into 3 teams:
(5 vs 5 vs 5).

This works best if the team is split into positions the players are likely to play in. 
Red Team and Blue Team made up of (2 FB, 2 Wingers/Second Strikers, 1 Attacking Midfielder/ No.10)

Instructions

2 teams compete to maintain possession using the neutrals (yellows) to combine with when in possession. 

2 yellow CB's and the CF play on each end line.  The 2 holding CM's play in the central area at all times.

Outside attacking players (Red) cannot pass to each other on the same side unless outside (FB, WF) pass to each other as a 1 - 2 or part of a 1 touch triangle.

Wing Forwards can step inside to join play but must pass 1 - 2 Touch then return to their possition.

Only 1 Wing forward allowed to join play at a time.

If the defending team (blue) wins/intercepts the football from the outside players, they must switch positions (transition) going from their compact defending shape to an expansive attacking shape.
This means on gaining possession, the Blue team run into the positions the red team where in and the red team enter the pitch to win the ball back (become the defensive team).

Scoring

Count the number of times the ball is passed from a CB through to the CF without the defending team intercepting the football.

The play must go through atleast 1 Attacking Team Player to count  (Cannot go through Neutrals to CF to count)

If  the Attacking team cannot get the ball to the striker within 20 seconds, Then Possession must be changed.

COACHING POINTS

1) Coach possession specifically in a
4-3-3.
2) Coach transitions.
3) Coach play in tight spaces.
4) Quick transitions.  Attacking transition and defending transition.
5) Movement to create supporting angles.
6) Pressing (Cutting off passing lanes, immediate pressure on the ball carrier).
7) Speed of thought (thinking a pass ahead)
8) Scanning play to see options.
