In this session there will be two teams, each team is trying to score in the same goal. I have only included one goal because I want each team to keep the ball well and be patient. The area they are playing in is not very large either, I am getting the teams to concentrate on keeping the ball in comfined areas. This would happen in central ours of a football game.
I want them to play at a high tempo, however I want the players to know the right moments to attack.
To get a point you need to hit back of the net however I have also included if you get 10 or more passes that classes as a goal also. This is very effective because the players need to press the ball at some stage, therefore this makes them think off the ball. e.g. moving into pockets of space reading triggers.
The key to this drill is to keep possession be patient and wait for the right moment to attack.
Pass the ball with your weak foot on a regular basis.
Progression: To make it more difficult for the players you could tell them that they can pass to the same person they have just passed to, therefore they would have to look for a different player.
Reducing the amount of players on 1 team, therefore one team is going to pressing more than the other.
Making the area smaller so that there is less space.

Roughly a fifth of Premier League goals come from set pieces, and the gap between teams who plan their routines and teams who do not has never been wider. Here is how the modern set-piece specialists design attacking corners, free kicks, and throw-ins - and how you can apply their ideas at any level.
The next frontier in football coaching is not physical, it is mental. Cognitive load training - the deliberate use of perception, decision-making and dual-task demands inside football drills - is reshaping how the best academies develop players. Here is what it means and how to use it.
If the last decade taught us about pressing, this one is teaching us about what stands behind it. Rest defence is the shape your team holds while attacking, and it is the difference between dominating a game and getting picked off on the counter.
