Agility cones

From the start position, run out to the centre set of cones. Quickly move sideways to the left set of cones and then move quickly sideways to the right set of cones. Return sideways to the center set of cones and then run quickly backwards to the start position.

Agility Fitness Drill

Set up the practice as shown above. 40m x 20m Grid. Groups of 4 Player start in the bottom right corner and on the command sprint as a group before doing 5 press ups. They then side step left to the next set of cones to do 5 sit ups before sprinting to do press ups. The group follow this routine until the end before the next group go.

Agility Slalom - Race

Set up the cones as shown. 12 Cones with 2 balls. Start with 2 players on the centre cone, each with a ball, and facing each other. On GO, the both run backwards to the first cone then side step up the grid to the second cone before running through the slalom cones back to the start where the ball is passed to the next players who only go when each player has received a ball.

There the player zig-zags up the slalom, then back down before running around the second red cone and down to the second group of players where the ball is passed to the next player Important no more then a max of 3 players per slalom to make sure that there is lots of activity.

SAQ (Speed, Agility, Quickness) drill for warm ups, handling the ball and warming up muscles. 4 or 5 small SAQ hurdles, 1 ladder Make up course of your choice and run through giving various commands. After the ladder you can put two cones left and right about 2 metres ahead to give commands left or right etc.

Set-up a 10 meter grid with a player on each corner. Player 1 starts with the ball. Player 1 passes the ball to player 2 and then quickly moves off their cone and runs to the cone where player 2 is and back to their cone. Player 2 then passes to player 3, follows the pass to the position of player 3 and back to their starting position. The aim is to for the players to be back in their starting position before the ball returns back.

2 groups of 3 Players 1 ball in side a very small grid. the team in possession has to pass the ball to each other to try and touch the player in the middle (moving around). Whilst the team not in possession is trying to intercept the ball.

Starting with their backs to one another, two players stand 5 metres apart and run off in opposite directions along one side of the 20 metre grid. At the corners of square each player cuts back into the grid and the player with the ball attempts to score by running with the ball into the far corner. The blue player's objective is to tackle them and prevent them from scoring.

Good for warm ups and handling the ball under fatigue. 4 or 5 hurdles, cones for variations. Keep body square on when receiving ball and have one or two players working consecutively. Give target to receive the ball. When working around cones make sure to reach the mark and work hard to next hurdle. Finish by sprinting to designated point whereby more variation can be added.

Groups of 4 One ball per group In threes, handling up a channel, support runner calls self into line, receives a pass, offloads and repeats down the second channel. Change support player after each run.

The player with the ball passes to the next player and follows the direction of the ball using a side step. The player who receives the ball does the same and so on to the last player who receives the ball and runs around the group to the first cone and restarts the drill.

In each of the two channel there are two players with a tackle bag and two players binding with their back to the runner. The first player starts and runs to the player with the tackle bag and makes a tackle before moving on. After the 2nd tackle he runs to bind with the 2 players and drives them across the line. When the 3 players cross the line one of the 2 binding players takes over and continues to run up the other channel, with the first running player now binding with the other player.
